Q1. How fast can I start working after I apply?
Most qualified candidates are placed within 24 hours. Many start the next morning.
Q2. Do I need to apply in person?
Yes. Walk in to our Wichita office at 415 N. Poplar. Most of our intake happens at the counter, not in a sit-down interview — fast, direct, focused on matching you to work.
Q3. What should I bring when I apply?
Two forms of valid government-issued ID, and dress like you’re going to a job site. Bring boots if you have them.
Q4. Do I need experience?
No experience required for most positions. We hire willing workers and place them in jobs that match their skills.
Q5. What industries do you hire for?
Manufacturing, warehouse and light industrial, construction labor, aerospace and aviation, hospitality, and food processing.
Pay and Schedule
Q6. How often do I get paid?
Weekly. Direct deposit or pay card.
Q7. What kind of hours can I expect?
Most placements are full-time during weekday business hours. Some are early mornings, some are second-shift, some are weekends.
Q8. Do you have part-time or weekend work?
Sometimes. Most of our work is full-time, but we get part-time and weekend openings depending on the client.
Process and Policies
Q9. What if I have a record?
Walk in and tell us about it. ESS has hired thousands of people with records. Some clients run background checks; others don’t.
Q10. What happens if I miss a shift?
We have a strict no-call, no-show policy. A no-call, no-show on day one ends that placement. Two no-call, no-shows within two weeks ends our work relationship.
Q11. Will I work the same job every day?
When you start with us, you might bounce between assignments while we figure out where you fit best. Once you settle in (after about five successful days), you go “straight out” — meaning you head directly to the same job site every day.
Q12. How do I get promoted to better-paying jobs?
Show up. Do the work. Treat the supervisor and coworkers well. Our Proven Winners program promotes reliable workers into better placements over time.
Q13. Do you offer permanent placement, or only temp work?
Both. Many of our placements are temp-to-hire — meaning you start as an Elite associate, and after a successful trial period, the client hires you as a permanent employee.
Q14. How far do you travel for placements?
Wichita metro plus a 2-hour radius — Derby, Andover, Newton, Hutchinson, El Dorado, Augusta, McPherson, Salina, Pratt, and points in between.
